You Need Something to Go With Your Margaritas

April 23, 2009 by

How do you like your margaritas?

Frozen ... rocks?

Salt ... no salt?

Maybe a little orange juice thrown in for kicks...

And how about your margarita pairing?

I find a margarita pairs nicely with a salty tortilla chip and some kind of dip.

I'm a rocks, salt kind of girl.  And absolutely love a good guacamole or a spicy queso with my margaritas.

And since avocados are in season and super cheap right now, let's take advantage of them!

What I love about guacamole is you can totally make it your own.  I've given you the base recipe below, but feel free to experiment!

Add a little cilantro and some extra lime for a fresh island flavor.  Add some chopped jalepenos if you'd like it spicy.  Or even add some extra tomatoes for a little more color and texture.

So go ahead and whip up a batch of fresh margaritas.  You have the perfect recipe for guacamole that will give you something to snack on while you sip.
Until our next meal,

Rebecca

  3. Use a fork to mash the avocado.
  4. Stir in lime juice, onion, tomato, and salt.

Tip:  Removing the pit from an avocado can be a pain sometimes, and get really messy.  Learn a trick to make it easy by watching the clip below!

My husband and I recently started Margarita Mondays! This guacamole recipe is the perfect pairing! AND I LOVE the video! Keep them coming!

I always got my guacamole ready made at the grocery store, but that's nothing like watching it made table side in a restaurant and tasting how good it is when it's not mushed in an industrial blender. Rebecca, you've reminded me how easy it is to make this at home, and inspired me to do it myself.

This sure sounds easy and tasty. Now guacamole purists might not appreciate this suggestion, but I like to add shredded cheddar to the guac just before serving. To my mind, it completely justifies eating the whole bowl as a "meal."
